Chemical Peels Frisco, TX

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels involve the application of a variety of acids to the skin to aid in reversing the effects of sun exposure, acne and aging.

Who are candidates for Chemical Peels?

People with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation are appropriate candidates.

What are the types of Chemical Peels?

There are different strengths and types of acids which may be used depending upon your skin type and the desired results.  Lightening agents may also be combined with peels to help with skin discoloration.  Microdermabrasion is also commonly performed prior to some peels to aid in penetration of the peel.  Multiple treatments are generally recommended to achieve optimal results.

Are Chemical Peels safe?

Chemical peels are safe but there may be different side effects.  Most peels will have minimal side effects including stinging, irritation and flaking. Some deeper peels may have more intense side effects and could even include scarring and changes in skin color.

Will there be any downtime?

There is generally little downtime depending upon the type of peel performed.  It is extremely important to keep the skin well moisturized and use sun screen following the procedure. It is also critical to avoid pulling on any flaking skin to minimize complications.

What are the results?

The results from some peels may be very subtle at first. There is generally a natural, healthy glow to the skin, and with multiple treatments, improved results.  Skin will be noticeably smoother and look fresher.   More intense peels may result in dramatic improvements in the skin surface, including decreased wrinkles and blemishes as well as more even skin tone.

Who should avoid Chemical Peels?

Clients with cold sores or sensitive skin may be at a greater risk for post-treatment complications.  We recommend pre-treatment for cold sores to minimize complications.
