How to Deal With Sun Damage in Your 30s

The skin goes through a lot of changes as we age. For women, it glows when there is enough estrogen and becomes dull and dry when there is not enough of the hormone. Hormones influence how our skin looks and by extension, can also influence how shiny our hair is and how dry our nails are. Hormonal changes throughout puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and even stress can cause several changes in our skin.

In our 20s, our complexion is the best it could ever be. It is taut, clear, and just beautiful for the most part. We still get those annoying acne breakouts during our period though and sometimes even get it beforehand. By the time we reach our 30s, our estrogen production experiences a nosedive and our once-tight and plump skin no longer have enough collagen and hyaluronic acid. Remember those acne breakouts that we could easily bounce back from in our 20s? it’s now but a dream. It now takes time for our skin to recover from acne and blemishes. Apart from that, we now have drier and thinner skin and we can now find tiny lines on our faces. It’s not all about hormones though, there are other factors that can make our skin look better during our 30s and ones that can cause damage.

The Dangers of Sun Exposure

If you love to tan, it may be time to rethink tanning altogether especially if you’ve already reached your ‘30s. Darkened skin resulting from sun tanning is a sign of damage. In fact, the damage can lead to abnormal discoloration, wrinkling, and serious medical concerns. Excessive sun exposure also increases a person’s risk of skin cancer.

Excessive exposure to the un can also cause sunburn – a thermal burn that is classified as a first-degree burn. Severe sunburn or second-degree burns, on the other hand, leads tissue and nerve ending damage. This very painful burn leads to blisters. Ultraviolet rays can also cause wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and age spots.

Laser Treatment

Our laser facial skin treatments can reinvigorate sun damaged skin. By directing a beam of light onto sun spots and pigmented lesions, the laser gets rid of abnormalities and stimulates collagen production along the way. After several sessions, your skin will look like the skin you had in your 20s, only better!
