Juvéderm is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler used to treat wrinkles in the skin and add volume to facial features.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural sugar found in the skin that acts as the skin’s moisturizer, and as we age, HA begins to deplete. Age also causes collagen depletion. The loss of both HA and collagen results in skin that feels less supple and firm, volume loss, and the development of wrinkles.  Facial expressions and sun damage exacerbate the process, leaving many of us looking older than we feel!

Juvéderm is used to treat the following areas:

• Nasolabial folds
• Parenthesis (smile) lines
• Corners of the mouth
• Vertical lip lines
• Lip augmentation
• Cheeks
• Jaw line

Depending on the area being treated, most patients only need one dosage of Juvéderm, and enjoy the results for 9 to 12 months without need for maintenance. One of the great advantages to using Juvéderm filler is that you can always start with a very conservative amount and add more if you desire.

To ensure that unwanted results are rare, Juvéderm has fine-tuned their product into three different versions. Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Ultra Plus and Juvéderm Voluma are formulated slightly differently to target specific areas on the face. They’re all in the same family of all natural hyaluronic acid fillers used to treat wrinkles of the face, but the size of the particles differ.

• Juvéderm Ultra is a smaller particle size and is used to treat mild to moderate lines, mild to moderate wrinkles. and some scars. It’s “smoother” and used in more superficial applications, such to enhance the lips. Because of its thinner consistency, this version has the shortest duration: approximately 9 months.
• Juvéderm Ultra Plus is a medium-sized particle and is used to fill deeper wrinkles and to add volume. It’s primarily used to fill nasolabial folds and to treat jowls. Ultra Plus has a duration of approximately 9 – 12 months.
• Juvéderm Voluma has the largest particle size and is injected deeper into the skin for an overall increase in volume. It’s used to lift and fill cheeks, and to replace volume in the midface. Voluma has a duration of up to 2 years.

The best results with any Juvéderm filler will be determined by the skill and experience of the person administering it. Dr. White has been treating patients with Juvéderm for years and has a reputation as one of Frisco’s best injectors. She has a “less is more” approach and her patients tend to feel that their results look natural, yet more youthful.
